The Power Of A Fresh Start

The Power Of A Fresh Start

We've all heard the saying that for things to change, you need to change, and for things to get better you need to get better - but how do you make changes that truly make a difference and stick?

Invoking the power of a fresh start is scientifically proven to actually help when you are looking to make a change in your life. There are certain moments in our lives that feel more conducive to change. These are moments when we feel like we're opening a new chapter in our lives. It might be a new year, a new month, or just finally the right time to really work on who you want to become.

Whenever a new chapter opens, we feel like we have a new beginning and a fresh start. And that causes us to step back and think about the bigger picture of our lives, our goals and what we want to accomplish. And it also makes us feel like we have a clean slate.

Science has actually shown that when we think about our future selves and our goals we actually use a different part of our brain.  This can help us to separate our thoughts out from the old me and the new me. This new me can do it and so increased optimism is one of the things that can propel us to change.

To help you with mapping this out into a practical roadmap I've created a special workbook that you can download to help you with the three critical stages:

  • Decide
  • Define
  • Design

The first foundational step is to decide what no longer serves you. What habits, behaviours and or people/situations do you need to leave behind? Second, you need to define how that new you thinks, acts and behaves.  It's not enough to simply say you need to change, true change is identity change so you need to take some time to figure this out. Then the final step in the process is to design those mini stepping stones, habits, activities and beliefs that are going to support that new version of you.

You can download my free workbook here.
